How to Make Oatmeal Muffins
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 cup uncooked oatmeal
- 2 to 3 cups entire wheat flour
- 2 tablespoons lard or suet
- 1/2 yeast cake
- 1/4 cup lukewarm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Scald the milk.
- Add the oatmeal and shortening to the milk. Allow the mixture to cool.
- Dissolve the yeast in the water and add the molasses.
- Combine the two mixtures and add the rest of the ingredients.
- Knead the dough and let rise.
- Shape the dough and bake.
