How to Make Rye Bread
Ingredients
- 8 cups rye flour
- 4 cups wheat flour
- 1 yeast cake
- 6 cups warm water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 3 tablespoons sugar
Directions
- Sift the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Stir in the water and yeast.
- Once the ingredients are mixed, knead the bread with your hands.
- Pour the dough into greased bread pans and allow it to rise until it doubles in size.
- Bake.
- Brush the top of the bread with butter as soon as it is removed from the oven. This will soften the bread.
